Perforated Surface of Heating Panels Designed to Increase Energy Efficiency

Perforated surface of heating panels is an additional detail added to increase energy efficiency of Elpan/Wanpan skirting board heating system. Warm air flows into the room faster and shorter period of time is needed for thermostats to react.

When designing and manufacturing  Elpan/Wanpan  baseboard heating system, engineers and scientists were working on idea to create the high quality, low inertia and most efficient skirting board heating system.

Two rows of well designed neat perforation at the top and at the bottom area of heating panels is important final detail, which determines whole purpose of minimizing energy consumption in all possible ways and keeping the design of the heating system as much appealing as possible.

Elpan electric and Wanpan hydronic skirting board heating systems are recognized as highly energy efficient heating systems as well as low inertia ones. Perforated surface of heating panels is just an additional component, which is added to improve a performance of heating system and to keep a design of the heating system unique and impeccable.

No Limitations for Flooring with Elpan/Wanpan Radiant Heating System

There are no limitations or any kind of requirements or recommendations for using specific type of flooring when Elpan/Wanpan  skirting board radiant heating system is going toClick to enlarge be installed.  Skirting board heating system does not heat floor from bellow and flooring is not affected by higher temperatures.

Infloor radiant heating system may not be recommended to be installed if you are planning to have wood floor, because of wood heat resistance, which is very high. When radiant infloor heating system is chosen as the  type of  heating with wood floor, energy consumption of the house is expected to be much higher. In addition to high energy consumption, more rapid change of heating temperature is affecting wood floor shape as well as quality of the flooring.

Marble tiles or synthetic flooring could be the only choices at this point.  Many companies are providing customers with informative and useful instructions for synthetic flooring. Besides, consumers need to be aware of the fact, that higher temperatures may cause unhealthy release of chemicals from synthetic flooring at least for the first few days of heating premises.

Elpan/Wanpan heating system can be installed with no additional precautions or limitations for the different types of flooring. There are no any kind of requirements for using specific type of flooring when Elpan/Wanpan  skirting board radiant heating system is installed.

Energy efficient Elpan/Wanpan Skirting Board Heating System Installed in Hotel, Motel or Hostel

Energy efficient Elpan/Wanpan skirting board heating system installed in hotel, motel or hostel – is not only contemporary and modern design , but also – the opportunity to save on heating expenses.click to enlarge

Electric Elpan and hydronic Wanpan skirting board heating systems have programmable thermostats, which are suggested to be installed in every each room and it takes very short time to increase/decrease the indoor temperature based on occupancy.

Heating panels are mounted around the perimeter and heat is radiating directly into room. When using Elpan/Wanpan ultimate heating system – heating efficiency is higher, energy consumption is lower and baseboard heating system is very easy to maintain.

For short period of time – day or two, energy saving electric Elpan heating system may work at lower temperature and be turned on to work full potential just half an hour before visitors’ arrival. In some areas, where business has to be shut down for “off season” brake, Elpan/Wanpan system keeps the lowest temperature of 5 degrees of C to maintain a decent living environment for plants and to avoid mildew and mold formation while vacant.

Energy efficient Elpan/Wanpan skirting board heating system, installed in hotel, motel or hostel – opens an opportunity to own easy operated modern heating system, which preserves a contemporary design, reduces heating energy consumption significantly and it is easy to maintain.

Energy Consumption and Wood Flooring

A signifficant amount of heating energy could be lost when transfering heat through other objects and especially – wood. The thermal conductivity of wood is very low, compearing with metals. Wood -based materials as loose fill, flexible batts or rigid panels are used for Thermal or Sound Insulation.

Because of these scientific facts, it is not a very good idea to install wood floor and infloor/underfloor heating system while seeking to have energy efficient heating. Energy efficient Elpan/Wanpan skirting board radiant heating system has no limitations at this point and any type of flooring works perfectly fine.

The thermal conductivity of structural softwood lumber at 12% moisture is about 1500 times lower than thermal conductivity of aluminum.

Front plates of Wanpan modular heating panels are made of aluminum. The structure of hydronic Wanpan skirting board heating system allows radiant heat to flow through aluminum plates into the room without the additional energy consumption, which would be needed to transfer heat through the wood floor. Copper pipes mounted behind the aluminum front plates of Wanpan baseboard modular panels complete the concept of this ultimate heating system.

Energy Savings with Elpan/Wanpan

The example below indicates a direct comparison of energy consumption between a local heat source appliance (radiator) and energy efficient Elpan/Wanpan radiant baseboard heating system when used to provide the total Heat Enclosure.

COMPARISON OF ENERGY CONSUMPTION – LOCAL HEAT SOURCE AND HEAT ENCLOSURE

From laboratory and practical test experience, if either the Elpan (electric) or Wanpan (hydronic) skirting board radiant heating systems are installed in the way indicated above required energy consumption may be reduced by a factor of 0.8 against that considered necessary for local heat appliances (radiators etc).

Local heat source rated at 6kW (effect: poor, uneven heat distribution)

Heat Enclosure rated at 4.8kW (effect: uniform heat distribution)

Energy saving with Heat Enclosure 1.2 kW = 20% (0.8 factor)

Heating Systems

Conventional radiators produce a high temperature immediately above the radiator and a warm layer under the ceiling. The lowest temperature is at the floor height and this causes discomfort from draughts. High energy consumption due air convection.

Infloor heating produces higher temperature on the floor, which can be uncomfortable to stand on without footwear, for longer period of time. The temperature is lower the farther from the heat source.  There is large energy consumption due to the inertia of the system and inherent limited possibilities for the exploitation of the free heat by temperature control. By installing wood floor and/or covering floor with carpet makes radiant heating system far less efficient.

Ceiling heating has been used for some years in single family houses and in some large rooms in public buildings by installing radiant overhead ceiling panels. Warm air moves upward and a layer of higher temperature air always will be at the ceiling.

Forced Air heating system that is blowing warm air makes room space to warm up quickly. However, when outdoor temperature is low, room space that was warmed up cools very quickly, soon after stopping to blow warm air. It increases energy consumption. Huge air infiltration significantly reduces air humidity. Additional air convection results big energy loses as well.

Elpan/Wanpanenergy saving skirting board radiant heating system is based on the principle of the thermal encirclement, which creates a more even distribution of heat throughout the room, as the heat is conducted at a lower temperature.

This is quite different baseboard radiant heating system in comparison to other heating systems such as conventional radiators, baseboard heaters, infloor heating or ceiling heating.
