The Elpan/Wanpan Heating System – a Different Way of Heating

In comparison with traditional radiators, energy efficient Elpan/Wanpan heating system – is a different kind of heating. Heating panels of electric Elpan heating system and hydronic Wanpan heating system are fitted around the room at the base of the wall instead of ordinary skirting boards – regular baseboards.

This lay out of heating elements creates a Thermal Encirclement effect which helps to keep a constant temperature throughout the room and to avoid the air circulation caused by traditional radiators.

Accordingly to the surface of heating panels, Elpan/Wanpan baseboard heating system heats room using 70% of radiated heat directed into the center of the room and 30% of convection heat raising up.

Radiant heat provided by energy saving Elpan/Wanpan radiant skirting board heating system is the most comfortable heat at the point of Thermal Conditions. The thermal encirclement positively affects human beings as well as house plants and pets.

Elpan/Wanpan Heating – Cost of Regular Baseboards and Installation Eliminated

When Elpan/Wanpan skirting board heating system is mounted the regular baseboards could be eliminated as well as the cost of their installation. According the information at www.costhelper.com, depending on style and height of baseboards:

* Inexpensive wood baseboards, such as pine or poplar – prices run for about $70-$180 uninstalled for a living room, or $425-$1,125 uninstalled for an average-sized home.

* Polyurethane baseboards –  prices run for about $144-$640 uninstalled for a living room and $900-$4,000 uninstalled for an average-sized home.

* Baseboards of solid cherry, mahogany, walnut or other high-end wood – prices run averaging $225-$560 uninstalled for a living room or $1,400-$3,500 uninstalled for an average-sized home.

* Professional installation starts around $1.50-$2 a linear foot, making it $120-$320 for labor for a living room, or $750-$2,000 for an average-sized home.

Elpan/Wanpan radiant heating system replaces regular baseboards and the total cost of construction or remodeling could be reduced accordingly.

Carpet Flooring and Elpan/Wanpan Ultimate Radiant Heating System

It is necessary to install the ultimate heating system, when going green and energy efficient, especially, if chosing carpet flooring. Recently, manufacturers are making thin carpet with a low pile and suggesting it to be used with any heating system, even infloor/underfloor heating systems. However, if heated floor of entire room are covered and heat has to pass through any additional layer (such as carpet), heating efficiency is affected significantly.

Conductivity of carpet is extremly low. Even if the surface of the floor (under the carpet) is heated to the max it will be very difficult to heat the room. In this case, Radiant Heating becomes Conductive Heating, which is one of the most unefficient ways to heat premises.

Energy efficient Elpan/Wanpan skirting board radiant heating system is absolutely suitable, when it comes to carpeted floor. The modular heating panels of Elpan/Wanpan ultimate radiant heating system are installed 0.5 inch from the floor level, so carpet may by layed just under the skirting board so ventilation holes stay uncovered.

Sockets and Switches are Mounted into Elpan/Wanpan Skirting Board Heating System

Any space between the heating modules of energy efficient Elpan/Wanpan skirting board radiant heating system is covered with dummy panels to give a uniform appearance all the way around the room. Tiny plastic clip covers a connection between heating and dummy panels of Wanpan hydronic heating system.

The special openings may be included in energy saving Elpan/Wanpan modular radiant heating system for connecting a TV set, telephone or computer in the place of the hollow element.

This also means that sockets can be positioned all the way around the room, which reduces the amount of cabling for lamps, home office, TV’s, etc. Sockets or switches of any type or model could be mounted into the Elpan and Wanpan heating systems according the standards of electric code of the country.

Energy Consumption and Wood Flooring

A signifficant amount of heating energy could be lost when transfering heat through other objects and especially – wood. The thermal conductivity of wood is very low, compearing with metals. Wood -based materials as loose fill, flexible batts or rigid panels are used for Thermal or Sound Insulation.

Because of these scientific facts, it is not a very good idea to install wood floor and infloor/underfloor heating system while seeking to have energy efficient heating. Energy efficient Elpan/Wanpan skirting board radiant heating system has no limitations at this point and any type of flooring works perfectly fine.

The thermal conductivity of structural softwood lumber at 12% moisture is about 1500 times lower than thermal conductivity of aluminum.

Front plates of Wanpan modular heating panels are made of aluminum. The structure of hydronic Wanpan skirting board heating system allows radiant heat to flow through aluminum plates into the room without the additional energy consumption, which would be needed to transfer heat through the wood floor. Copper pipes mounted behind the aluminum front plates of Wanpan baseboard modular panels complete the concept of this ultimate heating system.

Elpan/Wanpan Ultimate Radiant Heating System for Remodeling

There are many different kind of situations when an installation of new heating system is part of remodeling process.

It is common that owner, after purchasing a new house, decides to replace an old and unefficient heating system with more updated and sophisticated one while doing remodeling of entire property. Sometimes remodeling takes place in old downtown buildings or house has to be sold and it needs serious remodeling job to be done.

When there is a decission made to leave floor as it is and there is no option (or desire) to use surrounding walls to install standard baseboard heaters or traditional radiators, Elpan/Wanpan skirting board radiant heating system may be the only one to chose from. There is no need to take apart an existing floor or perform other kind of major construction work.

With Elpan/Wanpan heating systems remodeling process becomes much less complicated. Energy efficient Elpan/Wanpan ultimate skirting board heating system flows softly into modern indoor design and let consumers to enjoy the most comfortable radiant heat.

Electric Skirting Board Heating – Unusual Interior Design Solution

In some rare cases when heat loses are very high and there is no other option to add another heating source as an additional one – two rows of Elpan modular heating panels could be mounted on a single wall or under windows with some precautions to keep an interior design preserved as much as possible.

This is one of the options to avoid adding an additional heating system into the space while keeping the same details of the design.

There are only few very specific projects which required such kind of unusual energy efficient electric Elpan radiant heating system installation. However, this is one more option for indoor designers and architects.

Elpan/Wanpan – The Ultimate Modular Panel Radiant Heating System

Wanpan is a hydronic skirting board radiant heating system that is sleek, quiet and modular so it fits anywhere. It measures only 1” thick, similar size to a standard baseboard, so there is a very little intrusion into the room.

Modular heating panels of energy saving Elpan – electric skirting board radiant heating system, are even thinner – only 5/8” thick.

The  energy efficient Elpan/Wanpan ultimate skirting board radiant heating system is a modular panel heating system. It is almost invisible. The Elpan/Wanpan heating modular heating panels provide an easy transfer between floor and wall.

Electric Elpan Heating Panels Keep Roof Windows Clear

A constant problem when roof windows are covered by snow or ice is very common in areas where cloudy/snowy air conditions are more often to happen. This problem could be easily solved by installing Elpan electric radiant heating panels under every each window.

When a single Elpan electric heating panel is mounted under a window it helps to prevent additional humidity layer to appear on the window from inside and snow or ice to accumulate on the window’s outside surface.

Elpan heating panels keep windows clear allowing day light and sunshine to get into the room all the time.
